About The Aloe Vera PlantIn India it is called Ghritkumari.
Aloe vera is a native of Africa but is grown in many countries including India. It is quite simply called Aloe. Aloe vera is the most common and well known of the about 500 varieties of Aloes. The plant has a rosette of thick, green and fleshy leaves enclosing a very slippery mucilagenous gel inside. The leaves are long and pointed with spiny margins. The latex of the plant which is extracted from the inner side of the leaves is used as a laxative. Every home should have a potted plant of Aloe vera growing so that it can be used in emergency.
