About Acupressure TherapyAcupressure is an Indian alternate healing that is over 5000 years old. It is based on the principle that pressure points exist in the hands, feet, face ears and other parts of the body.
When the body is sick or is undergoing some physical ailment these pressure points are the first to react and show that there is something wrong with the body. The reaction they exhibit is in the form of pain which is experienced when the affected point is pressed a bit. Under normal conditions when the body is fully healthy none of these points are painful. The pressure is exerted by means of the thumb, the fingers, knuckle, the blunt end of a pencil or by acupressure tools that are specially made for this purpose. Acupressure is a very simple method to treat various health issues faced by the body. Not only that it is believed that acupressure can even prevent diseases by giving us a fore warning that a particular organ is about to malfunction. You must have heard of massage therapy and how it relieves pains and tension of the body. Acupressure works on this very principle that pressing certain specific points on different areas of the body produces relaxation of the muscles and release of congestion. In acupressure when these points are pressed the toxins that have accumulated around these points are eliminated and the affected organ starts functioning normally once again leading to health of the body. When the organ becomes healthy, the corresponding pressure point no longer experiences pain when pressed. Some Points To Be Borne In Mind While Taking AcupressureDuration Of PressureUnder normal circumstances, pressure is applied from 30 seconds to 2 minutes on each affected point. But it should be noted that this pressure is not to be applied constantly. The pressure is more like - press, then release, then press again, and release again and so on. It's an alternate applying and releasing of pressure for 7-8 secs till the entire duration for that point is met.
It is also to necessary that since the same points are located on both the hands, feet, in fact both the sides of the body, it becomes necessary to apply pressure in both the hands, feet etc to get total relief.
