About ItchingItching basically is the urge to scratch. A normal itch is a temporary phase and is not a cause to worry about. However when there is persistent or repeated itching of a particular area of the body or the whole body, it is cause for concern.
Itching is called pruritis in medical terminology. It can be caused due to many factors like dry skin, sunburn, allergies, eczema, insect bites, infections, diseases etc. If you have persistent itching the first thing to ensure is not to scratch the skin. Scratching could infect and inflame the skin. There are many good natural home remedies for itching which can give you relief. Try them out if the need arises. You will be pleasantly surprised at their effectiveness. Given below are some home remedies for itching which you will find useful. LemonSucking a lemon helps. Lemon juice can be added to coconut oil and massage with this.
If there are pimples with itching warm lemon juice mixed oil and then apply. One can also put some alum in the lemon half and rub it on the area that is itching. Also take a hot water bath with lemon juice mixed in bath water. BananaMash a banana and mix some lemon juice in it. Apply on some common fungal infections like ringworm and itching.
Don't be alarmed by some initial aggravation. Keep applying for getting total relief. CoconutTo 50 ml coconut oil add juice of 2 lemons.
Massage the affected area for relief. GarlicBoil garlic in oil and use this oil to massage.
TomatoMix 1 tsp tomato juice with with 2 tsp coconut oil. Massage the affected area with. Have warm water bath after sometime.
WheatMix water in wheat flour to make a paste.This can be applied on itching skin due to fungal infections, pimples, boils and burns for relief.
Green GramSoak green grams in water for a few hours; till they absorb water. Then grind them along with the skins.Apply on the affected area for relief.
MilkAdd water to milk and with a cotton swab apply on the affected area. Wash it after some time.
Holy Basil (Tulsi)Apply juice of holy basil leaves and lemon mixed in equal quantities.
Fennel SeedsGrind equal quantities of fennel and coriander seeds. Add 1 and 1/2 times ghee and 2 times the amount of sugar. Eat 30 gms in the morning and 30 gms at night.
This relieves itching due to a variety of causes. Cumin SeedsGrind cumin seeds first and then add some hot water to it to make a paste. Apply on the pimples, itching, burning for relief.
Black PepperFor ringworm and itching.
Grind 1 tsp black peppercorns. Mix in 1/2 tsp cow's ghee. Eat this. Applying black pepper powder mixed with a little water on the boils and pimples which have just begun, nips them in the bud. Carom SeedsGrind some carom seeds in hot water and apply to get relief in itching, ringworm, pustules and papules.
Also wash the area with water in which carom seeds have been previously boiled. NeemApply neem oil or ground neem berry on the affected area.

Drink more water at least 8 -10 glasses of water everyday. This helps to relieve itching in many cases. To increase moisturising the skin eat more of healthy oils like raw olive oil, flaxseed oil, fish, nuts. Keep the blood alkaline. Take lemon juice, barley water, raw vegetables and fruits, sprouts and fish.
