Smart Phone AddictionAddiction to smart phones is emerging as a new health problem for users.
Doctors say that excessive use of mobile phones is leading to issues like neck pain, dry eyes, computer vision syndrome, anxiety, phobia and insomnia. A recent survey done by the Heart Care Foundation has revealed that the active and passive radiation emitted by these smart phones, as well as that emitted by appliances like computers, microwave ovens, x-ray machines in the labs and hospitals, is compounding to these issues. According to the survey, 10% of the office staff, 20% nurses, 60% of the media personnel and 31% of doctors regularly use smart phones. Doctors use between 30 to 240 minutes of their time talking on these phones. How To Lessen The Impact Of Smart Phones On HealthIf you use facebook daily on your phone, take a break of about a week in between regularly.
Avoid using your smartphone at least 30 minutes before you go to bed. Use mobile phone only if you are travelling. Use landline phone at home. Limit yourself to a maximum use of 2 hours of cell phone in a day. To prevent computer vision syndrome, restrict the use of computers to under 3 hours a day. While working on the computer take a break from staring at the computer screen every 20 minutes by looking at objects 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
